DISCOVERY WORKSHOP 9 (NEW)
If you enjoy building and designing but are still deciding whether to specialize in one area, consider taking Discovery Workshop! This class covers the fundamentals of Woodwork, Electronics, Metalwork, and Automotive, providing you with the groundwork for future elective decisions. By taking this course, you'll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in different areas and discover what sparks your interests. This course will teach you the most effective method of working safely and accurately with various tools and machinery from multiple areas of expertise and allow you to combine diverse materials. Whether you're interested in pursuing a career in engineering or trades or want to learn more about how things work, Discovery Workshop is the perfect class for you.

WOODWORK 9
Do you love building things? Have you ever taken woodwork before? Want to give it a try? Join us! This is an introductory woodwork course. It develops knowledge of wood as a project material, as well as the design processes. You will learn the safe operation of power tools and continue to develop the hand skills needed for delicate and refined operations. Safety will always be stressed. Come and build some neat projects!

WOODWORK 10
Can’t get enough of woodworking? Woodwork 10 gives students the opportunity to work with a selection of wood species and to construct projects that promote fine joinery skills. While we always keep safety at the forefront, we focus on design, assembly, and high a quality finish. Woodwork 10 students will create a variety of unique pieces throughout the year, including a final individual project combining their abilities! Keep calm and build on!

STAGECRAFT 10
Do you like to build?  Are you interested in theatre and how sets are created?  If so, you should absolutely choose this elective; this is where woodworking meets art!  In this course, we will look at the different aspects of set design on the stage.  We will learn how to use woodworking tools and techniques and then create pieces for our school theatre program and community.  You will be working in groups making things like castles, houses, and props.  This course is a great way to nurture leadership, team building, communication,  hands-on projects, and community involvement.  See you in the woodshop!


WOODWORK 11/12
Are you a pretty good builder or do you at least want to check it out? Join Woodwork 11! This course is a prerequisite for the Grade 12 Joinery courses. It is a course in furniture design and construction covering safety, hand tools, procedures and methods of joinery, knowledge, and operation of power tools, sharpening and maintenance of tools, and finishing techniques. This course is for you if you are interested in:
  • Careers in cabinet making (joinery), finish carpentry and other related trades
  • Heading to a post-secondary vocational training school Woodworking as a hobby
Evaluation will be based on development of skills, projects, effort, theory, and class cooperation! Projects will be varied with a final consisting of designing, drafting, pricing of materials, and construction of a proposed individual piece. Come and build with us!

WOODWORK 12: FURNITURE CONSTRUCTION
(Prerequisite: Woodwork 12 or concurrently enrolled in Woodwork 12)
This course is structured for the experienced student. Is that you? It will give you the opportunity to challenge your woodwork skills. Among other projects, you will be expected to research, design, and construct a major piece of high-quality furniture. This course requires high attendance, participation, and attention to detail. Assessment is based on theory and practical application. Come and build your future antiques with us!
