DANCE 10
Dance Company 10 is an advanced creative and leadership-based course. This is an option for students who wish to take on leadership roles and/or who wish to contribute to their dance team in a significant way. With teacher support, these roles may include being a team choreographer, running warm-ups and rehearsals, cleaning and blocking, costume design, team gear design and ordering, volunteering at various dance events, organizing team bonding activities, posters, and other media design, etc.
The focus of Dance Company 10 is to challenge advanced level dancers to exercise their leadership skills and to go through the process of preparing ensembles for the stage. Dance company leaders are to contribute to the overall creative capacity and functionality of the team as competitive performance groups. Using the elements of choreography and elements of movement, students will have the opportunity to explore, create, refine, and produce dance routines that they will then perform for an audience. The Dance Company class will take part in competitions. This class will be an early class. If Grade 10 students are in the class it will be in addition to their regular 8 timetable classes.
